Checkers Drive-In Restaurants Inc., the largest double drive-thru restaurant chain in the U.S., bought seven restaurants in Jacksonville, FL last month from an operator. The Tampa, FL-based company paid $2.1 million for the units, or $300,000 each.
Separately, Checkers sold eight company-owned units in the Atlanta market to a franchisee for $3 million in cash, or $375,000 apiece. Currently, Checkers operates 222 restaurants and franchises 565 others under two brand names--Checkers and Rally's Hamburgers ... Restaurant Business (May 5)
