Subway Restaurants' international markets outside of the United States and Canada has reached the 2,000-unit milestone. The milestone was reached when 11 restaurants, located around the globe in Australia, Germany, Mexico, New Zealand and the United Kingdom, all opened within the same time period, tying for the honor of being No. 2,000.
The Milford, Conn.-based chain's international restaurant locations now account for 9.5 percent of the total Subway chain, up by 1.5 percent from a year ago, and another 800 international locations are expected to open by the end of the year.
