Bridgestone buys Belgian mould maker
* Brussels-Bridgestone Europe (BSEU) NV/SA has purchased Mecamold SA, a Herstal, Belgium-based maker of moulds for the tyre industry and supplier to the tyre maker for the last 35 years. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
The acquisition, which was completed on 1 June, is part of a BSEU strategy to achieve "vertical integration and synergies in this area of the production process," said a Bridgestone statement.
Mecamold was established in 1965 as part of Canada's Abex Industry Ltd and has been independent since 1978. The Belgian firm currently has 200 employees.
