Aug. 30--The search for federal airport security screeners has yielded an excess of qualified candidates in Las Vegas, but it could still be several weeks before Transportation Security Administration employees are staffing checkpoints at McCarran International Airport.
The federal government has mandated that all U.S. passenger airports replace private security screeners with federal employees by Nov. 19. While the agency has had trouble finding enough qualified candidates in some major cities, that has not been the case in Las Vegas.
