Sep. 4--Austin-based Multimedia Games Inc. said it's "disheartened" that a former member of its board of directors, Lawrence Kaplan, has been indicted in an alleged stock manipulation scheme.
The indictment last week in New York says Kaplan and five others manipulated the stock trading of Multimedia Games and at least three other public companies in 1996 and 1997.
Kaplan was not on the board at that time, but he was an adviser to the board, according to Multimedia Games' filings with the Securities and Exchange Commission in 1997.
