An exciting interpretive exhibit addressing the remarkable canal lock system will be under way soon at the Erie Canal Museum, thanks to a $10,500 grant from The John Ben Snow Foundation.
The function and operation of the Erie Canal lock system will be the focus of this new exhibit scheduled for completion in early 2005.
Based on the premise that a canal lock is essentially an aquatic elevator, the museum's modern elevator will be transformed into an exciting audio-visual exhibit taking "passengers" on a journey through a canal lock.
