Aug. 11--After operating its North Western Avenue branch from a trailer for nearly two years, Mutual Bank celebrated the opening two weeks ago of a new, 10,000-square-foot office.
Near Devon Avenue, the branch will serve a broad mix of immigrants and other minorities who live in the area, including people from India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Thailand and other countries.
"No ethnic community is going to be a success unless they have their own financial institution to back them up," said Amrish Mahajan, the bank's chief executive.
