Aug. 12--Over the past three years, California consumers have gotten such advertising slogans as "It's the Cheese" and information on the California manufacturers who produce it.
In the near future, they will also be told that California-based brands of ice cream are the best brands to scream about.
Thanks to Gov. Gray Davis's signing of Assembly Bill 1854 on July 11, the California Milk Advisory Board now has the authority to pay for and advertise promotions for retailers' brands of California-made ice cream, just as the organization has promoted branded butter and cheese produced in-state since 1998.
