WASHINGTON (FNS) -- Topping the congressional agenda of the Cosmetics, Toiletries and Fragrance Association is a House bill that would give the Food and Drug Administration authority to recall and embargo cosmetics it considers unsafe and to subpoena company records.

The proposal, introduced by Rep. Henry Waxman (D., Calif.), chairman of the House Subcommittee on Health and the Environment, was approved by the panel Oct. 11. It's expected to go before the full committee this spring.
