GM Vehicles Emit Most Carbon Dioxide.

Jul. 31--A study issued Tuesday by a Washington, D.C., environmental group says new vehicles built by General Motors Corp. produce more carbon dioxide than any other cars and trucks sold in the United States.

The report, Automakers' Corporate Carbon Burdens, measures the total amount of carbon dioxide emitted by a group of vehicles each year and represents their lifetime average global-warming impact.

Determining a carmaker's so-called carbon burden requires measuring the per-vehicle average carbon dioxide emissions rate of a fleet and looking at the number of vehicles sold.
