Aug. 2--CANON CITY, Colo.--The county building department here will have to be rebuilt.
Three of the department's four employees have been laid off.
Contractors will have to delay submitting applications for building permits as the Fremont County Commission works to revamp the county building department.
Because it has been taking an average of five weeks for contractors to secure building permits and there were alleged instances during which the department was not serving the public politely, the commission decided to take the measure of dismissing the employees after working nearly five years to remedy the ...
