Jul. 26--The nation's massive ground beef recall expanded Thursday as Publix Super Markets voluntarily pulled its self-branded packages of meat off shelves in more than 100 metro Atlanta stores.
The move comes just days after another 178 area Kroger, Wal-Mart and Save Rite stores began removing meat from processor ConAgra Foods Inc. in the largest such recall in U.S. history.
So far, 28 people in seven states have fallen ill after eating ConAgra ground beef products that were contaminated with a virulent strain of the potentially fatal E. coli bacteria. Now U.S. health officials are warning that the number of illnesses also ...
