LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. _ Brian Kelly was the MVP of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers last season.
That's MVP as in Missed Very Profusely.
Kelly, the Bucs' starting left cornerback and league co-leader in interceptions in 2002, had the pectoral muscle torn from the bone in his left shoulder during a Monday night game against Indianapolis in `03. With Kelly out, Peyton Manning tore apart the Bucs' secondary in the biggest comeback _ or worst collapse, depending on the point of view _ in NFL history.
Up 35-14 with less than five minutes to play. Down (and out) 38-35 in overtime.
Clearly, the defense wasn't the same ...
