Jul. 14--Milwaukee County is negotiating to take over Waukesha County's commuter bus service, a move that both county executives say could offer some of the advantages of a regional transit authority without creating a new government agency.
Eventually, other southeastern Wisconsin bus systems could join in consolidating their operations under the Milwaukee County Transit System's management, said Milwaukee County Executive Scott Walker and Waukesha County Executive Dan Finley.
"What's in this for the region is substantial improvement of mass transit service," Finley said. "What that isn't is a regional transit authority." ...
