Aug. 7--KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- For the 11 million Americans with food allergies, knowing that albumin refers to eggs and caseinate to milk can be the difference between life or death.
For those people, deciphering labels laden with technical terms for ingredients that can cause serious reactions can be like taking a chemistry test to determine what's safe to consume.
But help is on the way in the form of the Food Allergen Labeling and Consumer Protection Act, signed into law this week by President Bush.
