Jul. 9--Streetside Records, based in Maryland Heights, is merging with CD World in a deal that would combine the two independently owned music chains.
Streetside owners said the deal will allow the combined company to be more efficient and will provide more clout with distributors. The deal is expected to close this week.
Although the merged company will be based in South Plainfield, N.J., operations for Streetside's stores will remain local, said Randy Davis, president and a minority owner of Streetside. Its stores also will retain the Streetside name.
