MIAMI _ To understand how far guard Damon Jones has come, consider that he calls the International Basketball Association "the lowest of the leagues" in the country, and yet he was a bit player there in 1997.

"I didn't even start in the IBA," Jones said Friday. "I came off the bench."

The IBA isn't around anymore, but Jones is. The Heat signed Jones to a reported one-year contract for $2.5 million with a player option for a second year.
