Suffolk, Va., Hand Therapy Center Director Is Recognized for Pioneering Work.

Jun. 25--SUFFOLK, Va.--When Susan Glaser gives someone a hand, it has nothing to do with applause.

More often, it involves restoring the use of an upper extremity after serious disease, accident or injury.

Glaser, a certified hand therapist, is the director of Obici Hospital's Hand Center, the only hospital-owned and -operated hand therapy center in southeastern Virginia.

Because she helped pioneer hand therapy in the state, Glaser recently was recognized by the Hampton Roads Corporate Citizens, a consortium of local businesses, as an Outstanding Professional Woman of 2002.
