Jun. 26--FRENCH LICK, Ind. -- What a difference a weekend makes.
On Friday, residents of this southern Indiana community were crossing their fingers, watching as state lawmakers entered the final hours of a special session that they hoped would bring them a riverboat casino to shore up their struggling economy.
"On Friday, we still had hope," said Marilyn J. Fenton, owner of the Village Market antique mall.
On Monday, with the newly passed budget bill devoid of an 11th riverboat, the picture was much bleaker.
