Aug. 8--TOOMSBORO, Ga. -- A proposed new industry in Wilkinson County would vaporize old tires using space-age technology and then use the gases produced to fuel an electric power plant.
"When the company made its presentation to the board of commissioners, they said once they have their permits from the state it could be operational within 12 months," County Manager Laura Mathis said.
County Commission Chairman Dennis Holder said it's unclear how many jobs the plant would bring if built.
