Life is an obstacle course of various indignities, and the challenge is to remain dignified as much as possible. Many people don't realize this, and, quite frankly, it shows.
The challenges start early. When we are little children, grotesque aunts with too much lipstick swoop down to kiss us and remark how much we have grown. As teens, acne and insecurities make every social occasion a torture.
In the middle years, a ghastly array of bosses and office meetings sap whatever dignity we have preserved. Finally, in our sunset years, infirmities take their toll and leave us in hospital gowns with the ...
