When I hear Liza Minnelli belt out "New York, New York" I think of clematis: If you can grow it here, you can grow it anywhere.
The heat of the Washington region seems to get these lovely, somewhat finicky plants down, and we are lucky to get a fraction of the show of clematis vines in more temperate places like the Pacific Northwest or Europe.
