WASHINGTON -- There may be good reasons, including several non-military ones, for reinstating a limited form of the draft. But the chances of that occurring are next to nil despite the persistent buzz of concern on the Internet stimulated by the war in Iraq and by groups established to oppose any such effort.
These days it is getting more and more difficult to find colleagues, male or female, who have had any military experience, even the peacetime variety. College graduates outside the ROTC system don't join the armed services in any numbers, leaving the ranks to be filled by young men and women searching for post-high-school ...
