Over the years, I've had run-ins with all manner of four-legged garden pests. Deer, woodchucks, rabbits, cows -- I've encountered them all.
But never have I had to deal with a more aggravating, frustrating and evasive opponent than I have this year.
Voles.
That's voles with a "V," not moles with an "M."
Moles are bad enough, weaving their tunnels helter-skelter through the lawn. But they're just hunting for food. Because moles are carnivores and subsist mostly on grubs and earthworms, they have no designs on plants.
