Jun. 12--FOOD FORAY: Like so many Lane County companies, Curtis Restaurant Equipment of Springfield has decided there's money to be made in the big city to the north: the Portland metro area.

Curtis recently opened a sales office in Beaverton to try to snag a share of the metro area's food-service equipment market.

"We think there is opportunity there," said Mike Curtis, the company's president and co-owner.

Unlike the company's Springfield headquarters, which features a busy retail store that sells directly to the public, the Beaverton operation has no retail venue. Instead, the Beaverton office and warehouse will cater solely to business ...
