FUEL surcharges on British Airways flights to long-haul destinations will more than double from Wednesday - but another rise this side of Christmas has been ruled out.
As the Mail revealed last week, BA's fuel levy will soar from [pounds sterling]5 to [pounds sterling]12 on a long-haul return trip - just one of several extra charges hidden in the ticket price.
BA will recoup [pounds sterling]70m of an expected [pounds sterling]225m increase in fuel costs through the levy, as the higher cost of oil pushes its annual fuel bill to a forecast [pounds sterling]1.14bn.
