Martin Scorsese is a great filmmaker. But he might be an even better film lover.
He's a cinephile formed by two basic influences. His erudite passion for American movies, displayed in his landmark documentary series "A Personal Journey Through American Movies With Martin Scorsese," was forged through trips to New York theaters with his parents.
Then there's his love for Italian cinema, on display in his marvelous "Il Mio Viaggio in Italia" (My Voyage to Italy), which airs Friday on Turner Classic Movies.
