First Tennessee National Corp. in Memphis will soon distribute monthly check image statements to its more than 300,000 retail accounts, joining the first wave of financial institutions to offer the service.
First Tennessee, Fleet/Norstar Financial Group Inc., and Michigan National Corp. are the first banking companies to offer the new statement service using a check image-processing system from International Business Machines Corp.
Image statements give customers laser-printed miniature copies of their checks. While Fleet and Michigan National will print statements with 10 check images to the page, First Tennessee has modified its software to squeeze 18 ...
