After going to the dogs for most of the season, beleaguered ABC is switching to dinosaurs. Despite an awesome look, the miniseries "Dinotopia" seems unlikely to pull the Disney-owned network from the ratings swamp. No, poor old ABC could sink lower.
The $85 million production, based on James Gurney's illustrated books, depicts a society where humans and talking dinosaurs usually coexist in harmony. It's "Shangri-La" with the threat of "Jurassic Park" looming over it.
The six-hour miniseries, airing Sunday through Tuesday, boasts a resourceful young heroine, spectacular sets and imposing creatures. Yet this lost continent ...
