CHICAGO _ Five seasons ago, some skeptics wondered if Peter Nowak came to the Fire looking for a paid vacation in the United States, if he was another European player on the down side of his career.
Turns out Nowak was just beginning some of his most productive years.
"He seems to get better with age," Fire midfielder Jesse Marsch says. Nowak, captain of the Polish national team for three seasons and the country's player of the year in 1996, will turn 38 on July 5.
