Chances are The Tradition is not leaving the East Valley in the immediate future, despite Countrywide bailing out as the corporate sponsor, and its founder saying the Senior PGA Tour event is "vulnerable" to a move.
What is odd about The Tradition's predicament is that it is directly tied to the Valley's other major golf tournaments _ the Phoenix Open on the PGA Tour and, to a lesser degree, the LPGA's PING Banner Health.
None of them have corporate sponsors at the moment. Call it the state of professional golf, as more than 25 tournaments on all three tours are frantically searching for big bucks while mired in the middle ...
