Like any good journalist, I quietly observed the players while taking notes. While doing that, I got an earful of what Rising Stars Buddy Baseball is all about.

"What are you doing just standing there? Just watching? Come on! Let's go! Play!"

That was Gregg Bettcher of Wheaton, a 49-year-old bear of a man who runs the on-field logistics of the program. In that moment - the yelling into a journalist's ear moment - Bettcher may have perfectly summed up the goal of Rising Stars Buddy Baseball as action and interaction.
