If Brewster Creek were a person, there would still be blood everywhere.

Though the operation ended in February, the sloppy banks of the 4.3-acre lake-turned-narrow-stream make it very clear that recovery and treatment continue.

"This is kind of like surgery," said Don Roseboom, a hydrologist with the United States Geological Survey, to about 40 planners and environmental workers touring the Fox River watershed Friday.

To save a dam created in 1929 and the creek that ran into it from "catastrophic failure" four 18-inch sections of it were lopped off over about 9 months.
