IVREA, Italy _ THWACK.
I was hit by what felt like the meaty part of a fist impacting my eye. Teeth clacked together, and a stinging-throbbing-shocked sensation paralyzed the left side of my face, trumping my exhilaration of a moment before.
Such was my welcome to the Orange Battles of Ivrea.
Slipping about wildly on a layer of orange pulp covering the irregular cobblestones, I tried to find a path to exit the melee, head down for cover and trying to squint through my fingers with one good eye.
