Jun. 4--Watching over you while you sleep isn't just a job for angels.
Nurse anesthetists, who along with anesthesiologists administer sedatives to patients undergoing surgery, don't bolt out of the operating room after the medicine has taken effect.
They monitor the patient through the entire procedure, making sure the person is breathing properly and timing the process so he or she wakes at the correct time, said Lisa Jones, a certified registered nurse anesthetist (CRNA) with Milford Hospital.
