Aug. 8--Economists agree Alabama's burgeoning auto industry is driving a significant share of the state's growth prospects in 2004. The industry has continued to expand in Alabama during the past decade, with the state's four major automotive manufacturers followed closely by an impressive contingent of suppliers.
