Jun. 1--The "yums" beat out the "yucks" Friday when Palo Alto students sampled an array of organic food, including strawberries, macaroni and cheese, and an entree many simply referred to as "the white stuff."
The favorable ratings were an encouraging sign for a Palo Alto parents group that is pushing Palo Alto Unified to include organic and vegetarian options at its lunchtime meal. Friday's sampling at Ohlone Elementary was intended to see which non-processed, organically grown foods might be included in a pilot lunch program this fall.
