May 24--An experimental drug being manufactured solely by Roche Colorado in Boulder could help solve one of the most significant problems facing people with HIV and AIDS in the developed world: resistance to current anti-AIDS drugs.
The new drug -- called T-20 -- is the first in a class of HIV treatments called "fusion inhibitors." Results from a second late-stage study, which were released on May 16, showed positive results for T-20 as an effective HIV treatment when used in combination with current antiretroviral drugs.
