May 26--Here's the scoop: The state's oldest ice cream manufacturer, Asael Farr and Sons Co., no longer produces ice cream in Ogden.

Yet, the fourth-generation, family-owned company is well positioned to become the premier frozen-dessert supplier in the Intermountain West.

The company in fall 2000 consolidated its hold on Utah's ice cream market with the purchase of Russell's Old Fashioned Ice Cream in Salt Lake City. The move gave Farr more than 90 percent of the soft ice cream market share in the state.
