May 8--HARTFORD, Conn.--Troubled Envirotest Systems' Corp. has asked state officials to extend its vehicle emissions-testing contract after the current agreement expires June 30, the Connecticut Post has learned.
If approved by the state Department of Motor Vehicles, it would allow East Granby-based Envirotest a six- to eight-month extension to continue emissions tests at its 25 statewide centers.
But that would overturn the DMV's April 25 announcement suspending emissions tests scheduled beyond July 1 until Agbar Technologies Inc. of Chicago installs a decentralized testing system in about 300 auto dealers and private garages ...
