May 8--Krispy Kreme Doughnuts has blazed a path out West in its ongoing efforts to blanket the country with its Southern treats.
The Winston-Salem doughnut maker announced Monday it is expanding into five new markets and entering two states - Montana and Wyoming - for the first time.
All of the markets will be operated by franchisee groups who already have Krispy Kreme stores in other markets.
Krispy Kreme also announced it will open 62 stores in fiscal 2003, up three from its previous forecast. It opened 30 stores in fiscal 2001 and 44 in fiscal 2002.
There are plans to open stores in Amarillo, El Paso ...
