May 9--In the ninth grade, Samantha Reesey was a shy, straight-A Twin Valley High School student with college-track classes, a lively mind, and an unshakable case of boredom with the classroom.
When she wanted to take electronics courses at a technical school instead, her guidance counselor retorted: "You're too smart to go to the vo-tech; your grades are too good... You've got to go to college, " recalled Reesey, now a senior at the Brandywine Center for the Arts and Technology (CAT).
