Aug. 9--Retail photo developers are beginning to recapture the sales they lost with the dawn of the digital camera age a decade ago, according to recent surveys by market researchers.

But, it's been a slow development.

The advent of the digital camera in the mid-1990s gave technologically adept photographers an easy way to take, manipulate and store photos, but most consumers remained in the dark about the digital gadget until fairly recently.
