Chennai, Aug 9 (PTI) The Madras High court Mondaydirected release of an Indonesian national arrested onDecember 16 last year by customs department at Chennai airportfor alleged violation of foreign exchange regulations.
Allowing a habeas corpus petition filed by one Uma Shankar Narayanan, a friend of the Indonesian Wir Kumaran, a division bench of the High Court held that a perusal of allmaterials clearly showed that the impugned detention ordersuffered from total non-application of mind.
Wir Kumaran, who allegedly tried to smuggle out 20,000 US dollars, was booked under section 3(1)(i) of Conservation Of Foreign Exchange and ...
