Aug. 11--NEWPORT, N.H. -- Newport and Claremont have made significant strides in restoring vitality to their respective downtowns, but with more help from state officials, the region could truly shed its image as an economically depressed area, Senator Bob Odell said Tuesday.
That's why Odell organized a tour that spanned Newport, Claremont and Charlestown to show Sean O'Kane, the commissioner of the New Hampshire Department of Resources and Economic Development, that while the region's economic conditions have improved, there's still a lot of work to be done.
