SOUTH BEND, Ind. _ A longtime employee opened fire on his co-workers at a South Bend aviation parts plant Friday, killing four before leading police on a chase into Michigan and killing himself, authorities said.
Police identified the gunman as William Lockey, 54, of Niles, Mich., who had worked for Bertrand Products Inc. for 26 years.
Lockey, a supervisor in the shipping and receiving department, arrived early for the start of his 7 a.m. CST shift. Just after 8 a.m., workers saw him walk through the plant's production room with a box that police later determined contained a shotgun and a .22-caliber ...
