Apr. 17--The Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts made a profit of $87,319 on its gift shop during its most recent fiscal year. That's a drop in its $12 million operating budget.
The previous year, the gift shop turned a profit of $470,046. That's a nice financial trickle.
The difference? The academy's special exhibition of works by painter Maxfield Parrish from June to September 1999, a show that made more than a $1 million contribution to the academy's income for the fiscal year that ended June 30, 2000.
