Apr. 19--Built in 1936, the Riverside Hotel in Fort Lauderdale has long been synonymous with Old Florida, its homey halls decorated with sepia-toned photos of the city's innocent youth.
This week, the hotel begins a new chapter.
Fort Lauderdale's genteel leisure hotel is attempting to become a premium downtown corporate hotel by opening a 13-story addition.
"We've evolved over the years," general manager Bryan Morley said.
