Apr. 23--An anti-nuclear group said Monday it will try to rally environmental activists across the country to fight any attempt by the Tennessee Valley Authority to revive its oldest reactor.
"Nuclear power is unsafe, uneconomical and unnecessary," said Gilbert Everett, one of more than a dozen protesters who picketed outside of TVA's power headquarters Monday during an Earth Day rally. "TVA needs to give up on the Unit 1 reactor at Browns Ferry. We're going to work with all of our environmental friends to try to get that message to TVA."
