Apr. 24--A group of smaller Mexican manufacturers has come together at the International Home Furnishings Market to offer American retailers an importing reminder.
The five Showplace exhibitors wanted to remind retailers Mexico is the third-largest supplier of furniture to the United States at $800 million in 2001, according to the N.C. Furnishings Export Council. That's down from approximately $880 million in 2000.
Mexico remains much closer geographically than China and the Pacific Rim and makes its products competitively in terms of quality, price and distribution.
